Liquid Flow Floor Screed

Traditionally, levelling screeds were a semi-dry mix of OPC cement and sharp screeding sand. They cater to the issue of a structural slab with a rough or uneven surface. These are generally installed manually with daily screeding rates between 125 and 150 square metres. However, automated screeding equipment uplifts this to circa 1000 square metres daily. Historically, building projects predominantly used standard sand and cement screeds; however, the modern-day liquid or flowing screed, as they are commonly referred to, is fast becoming the product of choice for many architects, builders, and developers because it has many advantages in comparison, some of which include:

  • Speed of installation: A three-man team can usually install 150m2 of sand and cement screed daily, while the same size team can install around 1000m2 of liquid, flowing screed.
  • Higher flexural strength: A liquid, flowing screed can be installed unbonded as thin as 15mm, thus reducing cost, speeding up drying time, and reducing the risk of cracking. Compared with traditional sand and cement screeds, liquid flowing screeds produce a typical strength at 28 days CA-C35-F7, the minimum required strength achieved CA-C30-F6.
  • Typical density Wet 2200kg/m3 & dry 2000kg/m3.
  • Fire ratings are typically class A1fl.
  • In some parts of the UK, building control finds it acceptable to install a floor build-up of: Hard Core—Damp Proof Membrane—Insulation—50mm Liquid, Flowing Screed. This negates the need for a concrete subbase, reducing the build cost.
  • These screeds are ideal for encapsulating under heating at depths 20mm—50 mm, providing the minimum cover to pipes while allowing high thermal transfer rates.
  • Foot traffic within 48 hours of installation.
  • Loading within five to seven days from installation.
  • If the building temperature is maintained at 20 Degrees centigrade, based on a 50mm depth of screed, the floor will reach 60% RH in 28 days or sooner.
  • Quality BS EN 8204:7:2003
  • Most can be force-dried after seven days.
  • If required, the floor screed can be force-dried after seven days to reduce programme times before the floor finishes are installed.
  • These products are usually have100% recyclability.
  • Here at Midland Flooring, we can supply and install the insulation membranes, underfloor heating, and liquid-flowing screed using our highly qualified, experienced in-house installer teams, enabling us to guarantee the quality of our work.
