Retro Underfloor Heating Liquid Flowing Screed

Retro Underfloor Heating Liquid Flowing Screed is a proprietary screed developed by contractors and manufacturers to provide a unique screed with exceptional benefits.

With the advancements in screed technology and water replacement additives, manufacturers have pushed the boundaries, resulting in more robust, flexural screeds that can be placed at thinner depths over underfloor heating pipes while maintaining good durability. Some of the advantages are listed below:

  • From 20mm depth over underfloor heating pipes, this liquid flowing screed is used when there is a need to minimise the increase in the floor height.
  • While incorporating underfloor heating pipes, it can also be used to refurbish old uneven floors simultaneously.
  • Speed of installation: A three-man team can usually install circa 500m2 daily.
  • Higher flexural strength: A thin-section liquid flowing screed can be installed unbonded as thin as 20mm when encapsulating underfloor heating pipes, speeding up drying time and reducing the risk of cracking compared with traditional sand and cement screeds.
  • Ideal for encapsulating under heating at depths 20mm whilst providing the minimum cover to pipes and allowing high thermal transfer rates.
  • Foot traffic within 48 hours of installation.
  • Can be used as an alternative to lightweight screeds. Density wet 2200kg/m3.
  • Loading within seven days from installation.
  • If the building temperature is maintained at 20 Degrees centigrade, based on a 50mm depth of screed, the floor will reach 60% RH in 28 days or sooner.
  • • This screed is manufactured with a high quantity of recycled material.
  • If required, the floor screed can be force-dried after seven days to reduce programme times before the floor finishes are installed.
  • Here at Midland Flooring, we can supply and install the insulation membranes, underfloor heating, and retro underfloor heating liquid-flowing screed using our highly qualified, experienced in-house installer teams, enabling us to guarantee the quality of our work.

Retro underfloor heating liquid flowing screeds are delivered to the site ready to use via offsite mixing plants, eliminating the need for labour-intensive site mixing and associated mixing equipment.

A thin section of liquid flowing screed is pumped directly to where needed, eliminating much of the manual handling operations required to install other screeds.

Retro underfloor heating liquid-flowing screeds are pumped using equipment with closed or grilled dispensing hoppers, which remove the risk of contact with moving machinery.

Retro underfloor heating liquid-flowing screeds are finished using a lightweight dappling bar that requires no secondary compaction, thus removing most of the physical work needed to lay other screeds.

Latex or epoxy screeds are generally used for very thin depths of 3 to 10mm. However, if an increase to 20mm is required, the bagged material options can be costly, and retro underfloor heating liquid-flowing screed is frequently more cost-effective. This is dependent on the size of the area.
